What do you think of the Forums?

(imported topic written by Forum_Admin)

We are ending the “pilot” stage of the BigFix forum and we will soon be announcing the forum to all BES users using the BES Administrator’s email list. We expect that the number of users on the forum will grow significantly along with the post rate.

We are very happy to see the progress of the boards and we hope it continues to be useful for everyone.

If you have a moment, please post a quick note about your experience with the forum. If we get some responses, we can post this thread as a link when we publicly announce the forum, which will help the new users understand how the forum might help them.

Thanks to everyone for starting to build this community,

Forum Admin

The forums have provided a welcome avenue for direct exposure to some of BigFix’s premier experts, especially Ben Kus and Jesse Ward-Karet. These guys have been very responsive and generous in applying their BigFix skill sets to the average BES Administrator’s questions and conundrums.

Having access to the questions that other IT administrators have asked has provided insight into ways that I could be better managing my own environment. As we brainstorm on each other’s issues and ideas, our results as a community become closer to being best of breed.

I have had a strongly positive experience here and I would recommend this resource to any administrator wanting to improve on their ability to leverage BES.

Cheers,

Brolly

I like it

I’ve had a great experience here so far. I like the answers that have been given to questions. I haven’t seen any fluff or squirm around questions, I like the idea of having input into the product (I run into a fair amount of inconvenient things).

Thanks,

Rich

Overwhelmingly positive and I would concur with what’s been already written by Brolly and Rich.

If there’s one thing that I would change then it would have to be look/feel/functionality of the forums. People are still running into problems with attachments and there’s plenty of little annoyances in the PunBB engine (ie, avatars can’t be bigger then 60x60, you don’t get to see stats on forum users, etc. etc.)
