Web Reports not updating and console throwing errors

A few things happened overnight and I’m not sure why, any help would be appreciated.

First, this morning I tried to stop an action and got an error saying “Failed to perform mutual authentication”. I noticed the content errors item on the bottom bar was showing errors, there were two in there: “in background
in class SiteRefresh::Task Failed to perform mutual authentication.” and “in background in class PropertyResultRefresh::RefreshTask HTTP 401: Unauthorized”. I restarted the BES Root Server service and those errors stopped occuring.

Next, Web Reports stopped updating about 7 hours ago. There aren’t any errors that I can see but the data is stale.

Where do the errors that are shown in the content errors dialog in the console come from?
What would cause the unauthorized and mutual authentication errors?
What can I check to see what’s going on with Web Reports?

Update: Restarting the Web Reports service fixed the issue with it not updating. I’d still like to find out why that happened, though.

I’d start by reviewing the BESRelay.log on the root server and the Windows Event Logs on the root.

If the root server is a member of a Domain and you’re using Windows Credentials to log on to the console, I’d also check whether there were any issues reaching the Domain Controllers or issues with the DCs themselves.

I’ve already checked the BESRelay and event logs on the root server and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.

Conveniently I’m also the AD admin and know that there were no issues with the domain controllers or the account being used.

Probably need to open a support incident then. May need to capture debug logging from the root server, Console, and Web Reports.
