Hi all,
I’m new to Bigfix and trying the 30-day evaluation now. My requirements are as follows:
The client installed on endpoints should stay idle (no bandwidth usage specially) during working hours (9:00am to 5:00pm)
BES should automatically wake up endpoints at a given time after the office ours (say 10:00pm)
Then apply the patches and shutdown the PCs automatically
My BES server is located at the head office and it too shouldn’t download patches during working hours.
How can i configure BES server to download updated only during a specific time interval and automatically wake up endpoint and apply patches?
Thanks
Srimal

for the clients, it is easy as we have the same requirement. In the action look for the execution tab and set the run parameters there.

mit - you would need to play with the settings found here - http://support.bigfix.com/bes/misc/besthrottling.html - specifically the properties that have “Quiet” in them.
The only part I’m not sure about (if it is possible) is the server restrictions you want to put in place.

For the server config you want, I think you want to look at the download caching tool. Also, you may want to review this
http://support.bigfix.com/bes/misc/networktraffic.html
Depending on the number of clients you have, the configuration you are creating could be very fragile unless very carefully implemented.
It’s been years since I evaluated the product, but I recall BigFix pre-sales engineers were very helpful. You may want to get some email or phone conversations going as well.
