Using a retrieved property in mulitple Analysis?

(imported topic written by MrFixit)

I searched around and didn’t come up with a solution for this, and the issue has gotten at little out of control here recently with several interested in the same data all wrote an anlaysis and are gathering the same information.

I get pushback from the users since there are several advantages to have all of the results you are looking for right there in the results tab for the analysis, so I though maybe there was a way to use a retrieved property in multiple analysis.

Initially I though maybe I could maybe use session relevance for this but the clients don’t have this context so their results would be undefined.

Hi MrFixit,

You can add any retrieved property to the results tab of analysis in the same way you add/remove retrieved properties from the main Computers tab in the console. Right click on any column header in the analysis results tab, and select the property you want to add. If the same analysis property is being evaluated multiple times on multiple systems, it is definitely more efficient to define it as a retrieved property as you’re thinking.

Steve

Thanks - that is great. I’m now wondering what else I might be missing, guess I need to start right-clicking everything to see what might pop up.

Some comments regarding the capability.

  1. The settings survive a reload cache.

  2. The settings appear to be limited to a console so you have to also set it on other remote consoles that you may use.

  3. Obviously if you export the analysis these “additions” are not part of that exported .bes file.

This should help in keeping the duplicates from showing up.
