Updating Java Runtime Environments for 2007 DST

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

We’ve had a couple of customers express interest in Fixlets to remediate Daylight Savings Time issues for older Sun and BEA JRockit environments. We are considering offering these to all customers as a paid professional service if we find enough interest. Customers who currently subscribe to the “Updates for Windows Applications” site can utilize content to upgrade existing installations of Sun JRE to the latest version (currently JRE 6), but there are no Fixlets available to update prior versions.

Is remediating DST for JRE an issue for your companies? If so, how are you planning to deal with it?

Just an added note, there are now two Fixlet messages for updating the Sun Java Runtime Environment in the Updates for Windows Applications site, Fixlet ID 7051001 - Java Runtime Environment 6, and Fixlet ID 7051002 - Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11.

These fixlets only update Java if Java in installed. Is there a fixlet to just install Java?
