As a note, starting with BES 7.0, we have changed the DNS name of the Fixlet servers to go to “esync.bigfix.com” instead of “sync.bigfix.com”. We don’t expect this to be any problem because both DNS entries currently point to the same set of servers, but this gives us some flexibility in the future to separate the functionality of some of our servers.
If you are doing any outbound firewall-specific DNS-based rules for connections (which seems rare from our knowledge of our customers), you will need to add esync.bigfix.com in addition to sync.bigfix.com to get Fixlet updates.
Additionally note that you will sometimes still see “sync.bigfix.com” in certain log files, but the BES Server will override this entry with esync.bigfix.com automatically.
