Greetings all. Anyone had any luck with a script to uncheck File and Print Sharing in XP? No problem with stopping and disabling the lanmanserver service but the check mark remains in the File and Print Service in nw properties. Thanks in advance.

we’ve hit the same problem a while back and I ended up writing a utility to do this (http://bink.nu/Article5088.bink) as it can only be done by making API calls. Known limitation is interface name of about 20 characters.

Hi Rad. Thanks for the reply. Your script was most helpful. I was hoping to avoid the unbinding route but looks as if that’s the nature of the beast. I have bandaided it with a few scripts to stop the Server service and change the behavior of the startup type to manual. The service remains checked in the nw properties, however f&ps is not enabled.
