883667

I want to deploy a patch called 883667 which is a Microsoft Hotfix which you have to phone to get.

How do I get this onto our BIGFIX Server. We are using BIGFIX to make things simpler here.

BIGFIX only seems to support CRITICAL Patches, standard WinXP hotfixes do not seem to have .BES files created for them which is a problem for us.

Download the patch create a fixlet or task. Ensure you have correct relevance

I have done this, however next question:

It fails copying the patch locally, obviously I copy it locally then run it.

The error logs on BigFix just says FAILED. What account does BIGFIX use on a CLIENT when performing actions, such as COPYING.

There are no straightforward logs to check on.

The BES Client runs in the system context. Sometimes the BES Client log will have more information.

Also, if you post the action script and point out where it failed someone might be able to help you spot the problem.

Yep, guessed it, we need to create a NULL Share if we wish to use a UNC Copy type.

Thanks for your help.
