Tivoli Endpoint Manager Console - Unexpected Error

(imported topic written by holmesbt91)

Computer specs:

Windows 7 x86

Internet Explorer 8 (Was 9, had to downgrade. Thanks BigFix. :-/)

Console:Version 8.1.608

We recently upgraded BigFix 7.2 to TEM 8.1.608. Had multiple issues in the console and opened a PMR with BigFix support. Was told that I should downgrade Internet Explorer from 9 to 8.

I can log into the console and all content loads, but when I attempt to perform any action such as selecting a computer, I get the following error:

=========================================================================

Unexpected Error

The Tivoli Endpoint Manager Console has encountered an error and is unable to complete your request.

If you choose to ignore this error, the application may be in an inconsistent state. If you choose to quit, you will lose any unsaved changes.

The diagnostic message is: Windows Error: More data is available.

Exit without saving

Ignore

=========================================================================

I have also uploaded a screen shot of the exact error message.

So far I have attempted to remove/re-install IE8. Removed and re-installed the TEM Console. I even removed/re-installed the TEM console a 2nd time, but deleted all BigFix application data under my user profile before re-installing. The error message persists.

There are 2 other console operators with Win7 / IE8 connecting to the same database, and they do not have any issues.

Any ideas???

Also, there is no associated log entry in Event Viewer. I did find that it’s creating a BESConsole.dmp file in my profile each time it crashes.

You probably want to work with support because I don’t think this is a common issue…

The latest version of the Console fixes the IE9 issues…

Turns out that BigFix has this lovely utility on the downloads page called the TEM Removal Tool, which took a week worth of calls to support before someone even told me about it. Once that was run to remove the console and ALL settings, the re-install now works.
