Time Zone UPdates

(imported topic written by snoczp91)

Microsoft has some newly released Cumulative Time Zone updates.

Do you know when BigFix will release content for these?

Thanks.

I’m working on them now, but they’re not security related bulletins so they’re a bit lower on the priority list. Maybe late this week or early next week they’ll be ready and tested.

can you please post here when the patch will be available

I saw these published on Nov 25th Wednesday.

You should see them in the Console.

You can search for the Name 976098.

THanks.

I currently only see fixlets for English and Simplified Chinese, but these fixlets are not relevant for the vast majority of our English language systems. I would expect this fixlet to be relevant on 10K+ systems that are XP- SP2/SP3.

I would expect it to be per the MS article - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976098

We have many other native language systems as well. When will the fixlets for other languages be available?

The English patches have been released, but the non-English patches haven’t been released yet (those will be going out soon, today, tomorrow at latest)

Can you tell me more about the machines that aren’t relevant for the time zone update? What service pack version are they?

When you run the following queries on the machine, what do you get back?

Q: (not exists key “hklm\software\microsoft\updates\windows xp\sp4\kb976098-v2” of registry)

Q: not exists key “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones” whose (value “TZVersion” of it as string >= “131662336”) of registry

Q: not exists file “tzchange.exe” of system folder OR (exists file “tzchange.exe” whose (version of it < ") of it) of system folder

Q: version of file “tzchange.exe” of system folder
