I’ve been using BigFix to do software installations, and I’ve been using the “wait” keyword in the ActionScript to make sure that the end-user actually sees the software installation progress.
Here’s the rub:
In Vista, I’m not really sure what is actually going on, but the software installs without a UI. It is basically behaving as if I ran it with waithidden instead. Any ideas?
I believe Vista doesn’t allow interface from the “0 session” to be shown to a user by design… I believe the reason for this change is that it prevents security exploits like the “shatter attack”.
I am not sure if there is a way to prevent this from happening…

Argh.
I guess my users that insist on running Vista (executive types that get uppity) are going to have to get used to stealth software installs.
