SQL ldf log file

(imported topic written by BetFix91)

Hi,

I have BES installed with SQL 2005. My data file is somewhere between 1 to 2 GB. Unfortunately, my enterprise_log.ldf file is 219GB. It was growing impressively but I saw another thread on here which suggested changing logging to ‘simple mode’ from ‘full mode’. I did this and the growth has abated. However, I thought the .ldf would decrease, but it hasn’t. Is it possible to shrink or delete this file without risk to the BES?

Yes, you should just need to right click on the database in your SQL Management Tools and select ‘shrink’. It shouldn’t take very long either, less than a minute.
