Server Relay logs

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hi,

I had an issue with one of our relays earlier and noticed in the logs hundreds (maybe thousands) of entries similar to -

Wed, 17 Feb 2010 15:02:15 +0000 - (163.166.145.77) PostResults: (/cgi-bin/bfenterprise/PostResults.exe) Error: Overloaded buffer directory. Try again later.

I’m not sure it is actually related to my problem as when I checked the logs from my other main relay it also had loads of the same error message.

Any idea’s what this means and should I be concerned?

Cheers,

Mark.

Reports from clients are probably piling up in the \BES Server\FillDBData\BufferDir folder. If you see a lot of files in the folder, you have a problem.

Try checking:

  • Is SQL running?
  • Cycle the BES FillDB service. (If it hangs while stopping, you may need to terminate the process.)
  • Ask your DBA if there are hung sessions/threads to the DB. If so, terminate them.

When the issue is resolved, it may take a while for the contents of the BES Server\FillDBData\BufferDir folder to be stuffed into the DB. (There is a chance that FllDB will become overwhelmed and hang again. If so, cycling the FillDB and/or Root Server services may be necessary.)

After your Root server is healthy, then you may need to cycle your relays if they are hung.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I followed your advice and recycled the FillDB and Root Server services and the problem has now gone away.
