I’m planning to migrate my BigFix server which is running on a VM at the moment to an actual physical box. Could anyone please direct me to a link which details the procedure? It’ll be a great help.
To switch BigFix Server computers, perform the following steps (Note that the steps below require somewhat advanced SQL Server 2000 knowledge and you may want to contact your database administrator to help with the process):
The following document provides details for migrating the BigFix Server application from existing hardware onto a new computer. Due to the complexity and risks of migrating BigFix Servers, it is strongly recommended that a Bigfix Support Technician help in performing the BigFix Server Migration process.
Assumptions: The following assumptions are assumed to be true prior to performing a BigFix Server migration.
The BigFix deployment is licensed using DNS.
The existing BigFix Server is operating normally before the migration.
The new BigFix Server computer exists and is properly configured to server as a BES Server. It should have SQL Server 2000 pre-installed.
The BigFix database is local to the existing BigFix Server and will be transferred onto the new BigFix Server.
The BigFix deployment is not being actively used during the migration process.
The new BigFix Server will be using the same DNS name as the original BigFix Server.
