Securely moving files from aix to windows

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hi All,

I’ve used a Big Fix action script to generate a csv file on each of my aix hosts, now I want to move those files to a windows server share for further processing. I can’t figure out how to make that work. I cannot create a null session share due to security issues and the prefetch seems to be limited to the windows environment, based on the documentation I’ve found thus far. I’m sure I’m missing something. Is it possible to move files from aix to windows using the prefetch command? If so, how do I get the sha1 value? It’s probably obvious that I’m new to Big Fix. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Lori,

The “prefetch” command is like a download command and it allows you to move files to clients. You can use the “upload manager” to upload the files from the clients to the BigFix Server (but not to an arbitrary server).

The fundamental problem with shares is that the BigFix Agent doesn’t have the permissions to access the shares (unless they are null session shares).

Thanks Ben. I was able to upload the files.

HiUSDA / BEN ,

Kindly provide me with the action script or a sample that you used to copy the files from the end point to the bigfix server .

The scenario that I am stuck at is " we have to retrieve certain HTML files from the end point and copy those to a particular folder in our BigFix / TEM server "

I am fairly new to TEM so some extra details about the same would be highly beneficial to me

Thanks

See if the Upload Manager documentation will help:
