RFE to update CMEP to include McAfee Endpoint Security

We’ve had the latest version of McAfee for Mac (renamed to Endpoint Security for Mac) on our machines for a while now, and have yet to see IBM update the Client Manager for Endpoint Protection to recognize the new names or versions. Because IBM has not updated their relevance, we are getting nearly every machine showing as failing the built-in fixlets for McAfee, even though every machine has the latest version installed and the current DAT installed.

Does anybody remember how long it takes IBM to keep insync with the Anti-Virus major releases?

Yes, I know I COULD write my own relevance, and I did to verify that it was an issue with the IBM provided relevance.

Also, what is the best way to submit this to IBM? A PMR or RFE?

Happy Friday y’all!

And I don’t want to hear anything about McAfee changing the name again (cause I still have people calling BigFix IEM).

Hello @ctan,

BigFix CMEP supports McAfee’s VirusScan for Mac (versions 8.X & 9.X) while the latest version of McAfee for Mac which you have mentioned, Endpoint Security, is 10.X and is currently not supported by BigFix CMEP.

Would suggest to open a RFE for supporting McAfee’s Endpoint security product. While if the failures are seen for VirusScan for Mac 8.X/9.X then please open a PMR so that we could have a closer look and fix any issues.

Thanks!

Thanks Sameer.

Just to clarify, as I am having a hard time swallowing this pill… IBM is not going to support Endpoint Security 10?

Thanks.

Chris

Created RFE.

Vote up if possible.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Sorry that Bigfix is currently not supporting McAfee’s Endpoint security product. We may support it in the future. The RFE you opened will help in prioritizing and adding support for newer products like Endpoint security.

Thank you for raising this issue.

Kudos! That is awesome! I’ll take a look and see what I can contribute, but it looks pretty exhaustive already.

My main concern with IBM’s lack of support is the DAT version comparison. Getting the DAT version is useful and good, but comparing it to what it should be is where the real value of CMEP came through.

Aside from the comparison, for ES10, I think that you provide higher quality fixlets than CMEP.
