Restart fixlet

(imported topic written by geeman91)

Hi everyone

Have a question about restart fixlet. My restart fixlet keeps reporting computers need to be rebooted. Have tracked it down to this registry setting. Its not the same for all users computers.

Examples:

??\C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Symantec\SyKnAppS\129043403482397796_EED725E4-E03D-11DE-94E4-00216A260272.TMP%00%00%00

and

??\C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Symantec\SyKnAppS\129043405828117107_7AA7FBF3-E03E-11DE-9272-00216A2DF8D6.TMP%00%00%00

If I go to the BES Console and click on that computer and edit settings for that computer and add a custom setting Then enter the registry string like the example above and deploy it to the agent on that computer. The computer reports back that it doesn’t need the restart fixlet. Then in a few days it reports it needs a restart and shows a different registry key that is different from before. But part of the key is the same ??\C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Symantec\SyKnAppS.

So I was wondering if there was a way to shorten it with a wild card to be

I tried ??\C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Symantec\SyKnAppS\ with no luck.

Thanks

G

Hi G,

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to exempt pending restart strings with a wildcard…

Perhaps you can look at the “pending restart - triggered by BigFix Agent” Fixlet rather than the pending restart Fixlet?
