Report property on BigFix IP Address

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hello

I previously asked if it was possible to make BigFix link a property to subnets which is working fantastically. The main issue with this is PCs that are on VPNs or PCs with 2 IP addresses (Phone syncs, Print Servers, etc). I remembered seeing the below in the BigFix patch notes and was wondering how to reference this. Then I can use this to have my PCs report their Region removing any “Unknowns” or “”.

New apparent ip address and subnet inspector which give network information on the communication path BigFix is using

Does this mean I can pull back which IP BigFix is reporting on?

I actually didn’t realize we implemented this until you posted this…

Try this:

registration address of client

I believe this is the address of the network adapter that the agent uses to connect to the relay.

Just a note. Using this requires the API tester and won’t work in the relevance debugger.

So we were using something similar (name of registration server) to dynamically switch Command Polling on and off when clients were on / off the corporate network.

Does this new property have any advantages over the “name of registration server” method?

registration address of client

does not work on pre-v8.0 endpoints…
