It appears that the Relay does not have connectivity to its parent. Have you verified that the device in question is able to connect to its configured parent manually? For instance, are you able to open a connection to:

https://<replace with IP or name of parent>:52311/cgi-bin/bfenterprise/clientregister.exe?RequestType=Version

Have you tried restarting the local relay?

We’ll need a lot more information to guess what’s wrong in your environment.

Is this a new relay, or an existing, working relay that stopped working?

Is this relay Windows or Linux? What are the values for __RelayServer1 and __RelayServer2 (in registry for Windows, or besclient.config on Linux)?

What is the relay’s parent relay? Another relay, or the root server? Is it configured for manual relay select (preferred) or automatic relay select?

Is ICMP allowed to the parent relay? Does ping give a response?

Is the relay’s parent relay healthy? Any errors in this relay, or the parent relay’s logfile.txt?

Is the root server healthy? Any errors in the server’s relay.log file?

The ICMP does seem like it could be the culprit so you could try and ping from the machine.

That being said if the client (which is still the thing that finds the parent) can’t find another relay then it will fall back to the root server eventually.

Can the endpoint resolve the root servers name?
