Most of the documentation includes the requirement to run this task:
BES Relay/Server: Register Download Plug-in for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
I have many Linux machines subscribed to both the “Linux RPM Patching” site and other “Patches for RHEL” sites, however I can not find this task anywhere, even as a non relevant item.
Can anyone tell me if this is still a requirement? And if so, how do I make it show for install?
If I have registered the latest plug-ins, why do downloads still fail?
Patch number 8.0.627 has a known issue of not recognizing the whitelist for dynamic downloads. Upgrade to the latest version of IBM Endpoint Manager to resolve the issue. You can also add the following lines in the download whitelist on your server:
Unless you’re running 8.0.627 I wouldn’t worry about the whitelist. Are you using a proxy to access the internet from your BigFix server? Can you verify your RHEL support credentials are correct?
I’ve also read here that it depends on which site the fixlet is in as to where the download comes from.
We would like to have IEM control and manage the downloads.
I’ve taken action on fixlets that are from both the ‘RHEL … Native’ site and also the ‘RHEL … Dependency Resolution’ site, but both actions just stay in ‘Pending Downloads’.
For those that are stuck with a similar problem, the answer (for me at least) is that you need active subscriptions on the Red Hat Customer Portal, just having an account is not enough.
