I’ve been trying to use the built in wizard to set up recurring NMAP Scans to try and pick up the laptops that come in and out of the office. Currently though the NMAP scans seem to run immediately as I wish but then not reoccur in 1 day time. I’ve tried a few different settings on the execution tab but nothing seems to trigger a recurring scan. Has anyone been successful in doing this?
It should work if you pick the “Reapply this action… while relevant… waiting 1 day between reapplications…”. What version of the BigFix Console and Agent are you running?
I’m running 7.2.5.22 for console and agent. I’ve scheduled the scan as you suggest but the Unmanaged Assets tab doesn’t update to show a scan happening on that day.
I’m scanning 59 subnets 1 at a time during certain times of day to reduce network traffic. I’ve tried the following reapplication settings individually per subnet scan : run on certain days, wait 1 day before reapplying, run between and combinations of all of the above. The actions all only show 1 single application which is typically the time the first scan is scheduled for. I’ll have to clear out the client log because it only shows times with no dates and my scans were scheduled to start a few days ago and so it is a little crowded in the log.
Sorry. Just realised the logs are kept in individual days. I’ve look in the logs for the days when scans were meant to reoccur and there is nothing appearing in the logs besides site/action replications.
Something further that is interesting. I was browsing the server investigating where it locates the files. It does seem to be rerunning the scan but it just isn’t updating the job as being rerun and the results aren’t updated in the Unmanaged Asset tab. I found the server is creating the XML file with all the NMAP scan details. But the unmanaged asset tab doesn’t show any new devices listed since the previous run. Some PCs have been turned on today that weren’t last time but those have not appeared in the list.
UPDATE FROM SUPPORT: Hello, I had my issue resolved by Support so I thought I’d post in case anyone in future runs into this. Support told me to clear the console cache, close the console, restart the BES NMAP Unmanaged Asset Importer service and restart the console which resolved the updating problem.
