Question about Take Action screen Target tab

(imported topic written by Kenz91)

On the target tab it has an option for “All computers with the property values selected in the tree below”. When using this it still will only push out to machines that are relevant correct? So that if I use this option with no end date on the fixlet as machines become relevant it will take the action. Is that correct?

Correct. Generally, you should always use this option with a “policy” action (no end date). Otherwise, you’ll have to restart the action if you want it to get applied to a computer that was not in the original list.

Also, actions that target specific computers are actually using a set list of computer IDs for targeting. So if you rebuild the computer or reinstall the BES Client, your computer ID will probably change and the action will no longer be able to apply to your intended target.

As an example, if you targeted an action by specific computer and selected an active directory OU, your action would get applied to all of the computers that are

currently

in the list under that OU, and not others that are in that OU and but have not yet become relevance for that task.
