Power Management - Monthly Power Consumption

(imported topic written by jefister91)

I previously was able to see the Monthly Power Consumption in the Power Tracking Information, but now all I get is this message “There are no computers currently being tracked in bothe the Windows Power Options Information Analysis and the Power Montioring Analysis.” Someone had deactivated the Windows Power Options Information Analysis but I reactivated it over 24 hours ago. In the analysis all my devices are “not reporting” status. What else do I need to do to get this to work again.

Also, are there any standard mangement reports that I can get from all this wonderful information that I am accumulating. I need to present it to our energy czar. Thanks for all the support.

Hi jefister,

You need both the “Windows Power Options Information” Analysis AND the “Power Monitoring Analysis” active. Are they both activated? You can see these values in the “Additional Information” button on the Power Information dashboard where it shows “Valid computers tracked in both analyses”:

For your reports question, we will be releasing some power management reports that give you all this information in web reports in various forms in addition to the data available in the console. In the meantime, if you have the “print to pdf” option available if you have an pdf printer driver installed, that should work well… or you can always use the good-old-fashion print-screen.

Hi Ben, Power Monitoring is on for the 515 PCs in my Power Mgt pilot. I reactivated the Windows Power Options Information Analysis which had been on previously. It has been activated since 1/23 at 12:14 EST but all properties are for all devices, including the 515 that do have Power Monitoring activated. There must be something else I need to do; something simple that I forgot? Thanks, Julie

Hi Julie,

Hmm… that is strange… You might want to try clearing your console cache because perhaps the information is there, but the cache is corrupted. If that doesn’t work, you might want to stop and then reactivate the analysis again and see if that helps.

If the problem persists, you probably should start a support call so we can take a look and see if we can figure out why an activated analysis is not returning results.

Well, the issue does persist. We created our own analysis for Windows Power Options Information and it works fine, but the BF analysis does not work. All devices still show “not reporting” for all properties. I will make an inquiry to BF Enterprise Support. Thanks.

is there an ETA for the web reports? I want to give it to our facilities mgr, but he doesnt need the full fledged console.

Hi mcalvi,

The web reports should be released very soon (within a couple weeks).

We are adding a button to the dashboard that will enable operators to store historical data and then to view this data via the new reports. For those wishing to automate the process, we will be releasing an automated saving mechanism as well.

One of the reports will include “what if” scenario modeling so that you can see how changing the Power Management settings within the environment will affect power consumption, cost, and CO2 emissions.

I will post more details to the bes-admin list and to the forum when these reports are published.
