I have baselines setup for Windows patches by year…
IE: I have a 2008, 2009, and 2010 (three seperate) baselines with all patches in each… I have a PC I powered on that needs updates that are in all three of those baselines…
When I look in the action history tab for this PC it shows that all three baselines are running… Does that mean it could be trying to install 3 different patches at the same time or is BigFix smart enough to know to wait until one finishes to go to the next?
It’s smart enough to know that another fixlet in another baseline is running and it waits until that fixlet in the other baseline is complete. In other words if you have 3 policy baselines with 3 fixlets in each baseline, all 3 baselines can report back they are running, but in reality only one fixlet at a time is running on the client. I’m not sure what order the fixlets execute in, it seems like it round robins between the baselines, executing a fixlet from each one until complete. Someone from BigFix can probably give you the actual algorithm.
