Pending Message status missing in 8.1?

(imported topic written by Bill.Ehardt)

To make a long story short, we put together a report that looks for servers that didn’t come up after a patching reboot, and part of it is based on the “Pending Message” status.

In version 8.0 when the BigFix agent showed a message prior to reboot, the action status would change to pending message. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

I used that message to show that a machine was attempting to do a reboot.

bump! I can open a ticket if needed.

What does it do now? I didn’t think this functionality changed (I can check)…

status stays at pending restart.

OK… I looked into this and it appears that some people reported the “Pending Message” as a bug in previous versions because it was confusing because people couldn’t differentiate between if the action was at the pre-action message box or if the computer was restarting…

After a long debate, we decided to change the behavior to “pending restart” instead of “pending message”…

Seems like you would have supported us keeping it at “pending message”?

Definitely.

Either that or just some way to identify that a server is going down for a reboot. Maybe a “Rebooting” status or something similar.

Request #42933 submitted referring to this post… Looks like we will need to revisit/improve this behavior…
