Parsing BigFix Log Files

(imported topic written by snoczp91)

Is there a way to tell from the BigFix log files if a user actually accepted a dialogue box, or selected to either run, or postpone an action presented to them?

We are trying to determine if a job acted as it was supposed to, or if a user actually selected for it to run, but did not remember or thought they postponed an action.

Thanks.

Hi snoczp,

Hmm… I don’t think our normal log records the user input… I think probably the emsg log would if you had it enabled…

Ben,

How would we enable the emsg log?

Would be a great future addition to not have to look other places to find out.

Possible future feature request?

The emsg log is a debug log and you probably don’t want it on all the time so maybe that won’t work…

Can you give more info about the problem you are trying to solve?

Ben,

We would like to be able to determine how a user responded to a prompt or dialogue box in order to help determine if an action was behaving as we believed it was, and also to help in investigating whether a user took the action they thought they did in response to a dialogue.

Did they really say to snooze for an hour, or hit the Take all actions button but later complain the action was running amuck.

Hope this makes sense.
