Not able to use CTRL to select multiple groups in BES Console

(imported topic written by kurtastbury91)

Hello all,

Ever since I installed Windows 7 I’m not able to use CTRL to select multiple automatic groups when deploying a fixlet. What happens is that it will select only the one I click on regardless of the fact that I have the CTRL key pushed down. The functionality of using SHIFT to select a range of automatic groups also does not work how it is supposed to because it will deselect the one you clicked on initially.

This behavior is very annoying and I would like to know if there is a fix or a work around for this. I’m on 32 bit Win7 Enterprise.

When in the fixlet I click on the “Click HERE to initiate the deployment process” From there I click the “All computers with the property values selected in the tree below” radio button. Then I click on the “+All Computers” and “+By Group.” From there I see the list of all of my groups but I’m not able to select the ones I want like I was able to with Win XP.

What changed? I saw that this has been a problem for years. Using Win XP is not the best solution since I have fully migrated to Win7.

Can anyone else replicate this behavior and tell me what to do to regain this functionality?

I think this is due to some differences in the OSes that screw up the list controls, but I will check and get you the better answer…

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Has this been an issue since Windows Vista?

Yes, we’ve had the same issue after using the BES console on vista. As a work around, hold down the CTRL key. Then rather than clicking on the group iteslf, drag a box around it from the left or right side of the group. You’ll see whatever you “box” will either enable or disable.

I look forward to this one getting fixed.

That works. Thx for the work around. Greatly appreciated.

We also have this issue (on Windows Server 2008). Paul, thanks for the workaround! That should save me some headaches down the road.
