Noob Question - Duplicate fixlets in baseline

(imported topic written by Joel.P)

I just realized that I’ve been adding duplicates into my baselines for MS patches. I’d like to clean them up if possible. I found a forum post from 2011 stating there were no utilities available to do this. I’ve also found another forum where a user posted a script that lists the duplicates.

Is there a way to clean these duplicates up en masse? Or is there a way to simply remove a component group (I have the fixlets all added under the default component group)?

I was hoping to not delete my baselines and start over.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Joel

I have never tried to delete an entire component group through the console UI, but I suppose that might be possible.

Otherwise, I think the only option would be to use the REST api or a similar api and some logic to do this for you.

Hi Joel,

How many baselines do you need to go through and update? It may be worth going through them manually and inspecting what components have been added and what components have not been added. You may have inadvertently added other items which may/should be removed.

See the following article for baseline best practices in building and using baselines:

Thanks for the article. I’ll be sure to read through it. It sounds like I’ve gotten off track with the creation of the baselines.
