NMAP Scan Points

(imported topic written by Steve91)

Hi Chaps

We’ve followed the BigFix asset discovery article to setup NMAP scan points.

We have setup the Discovery Import Service, Designated 10 Nmap Scan Points and Upgraded Nmap but the “Run Nmap Scan” task is still greyed out.

Having run the relevance through the relevance debugger on one of the scan points everything evealuates to TRUE except the following, which evaluates to FALSE:

(number of bits (0;1;2;3;4;5;6;7) whose (it) of ( it as integer ) of ( if it contains “.” then preceding text of first “.” of it else it ) of ( it; following texts of substrings “.” of it ) of ( unique value of (subnet masks of ip interfaces whose (loopback of it = false) of network as string ) as string) ) >= 22

Any ideas what I should be looking into here?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

The Default for “Run NMAP Scan” is to scan the local subnet… however, to avoid issues or confusion, the default scan is limited to Class C subnets of (Class C subnets have a max of 255 computers). You should see a different Task “Run Nmap Scan (Large Subnet)” that should be relevant for the systems that have larger than Class C subnets. You will be asked to specify the IP range to scan for these scan points.
