New Dashboard Release - Baseline Synchronization

(imported topic written by Xie_Ran91)

IBM is pleased to announce the release of the Baseline Synchronization Dashboard in the BES Support site. This dashboard provides a searchable and filterable overview of all the baselines in your deployment, along with their synchronization status. With this dashboard, you can view all the baselines that are out-of-sync with their source Fixlets, and with just a single click, update all the baselines that you choose.

Actions to take:

Gather content from the BES Support site version 1104

Looks like a great new feature. We just took a look at it and it’s telling us that every baseline is out of sync. When we click on the “out of sync” text a new window opens and show all the components with a green check mark saying that they are in sync.

Is there a bug in the dashboard or anyway to troubleshoot why it’s reporting incorrectly?

(imported comment written by Xie_Ran91)

Can you create a new baseline and see if the same thing happen? Also check are those components custom fixlets?

(imported comment written by vpetrell)

I just created a brand new test baseline and now it’s the only one that reports being in-sync. Almost all of our baselines do not use custom fixlets.

I tried clicking “Sync Baselines” and it went through a progress window, but still say out of sync.

I attached a screenshot of a baseline showing all components in sync, but they actual baseline saying it’s out of sync.

I’m seeing the same behavior. The new dashboard tells me that a baseline is out of sync, but when I open the baseline to edit it, nothing seems to be wrong with it.

I’ve been using the BigFix Labs Baseline Synchronization dashboard for a while with no trouble. It shows different results for “Out-of-Sync” state than the new dashboard.

(imported comment written by Xie_Ran91)

Do you see any Out-of-Sync open action on the dashboard?

(imported comment written by Tim.Rice)

It’s odd. For many of the Baselines that are showing “out-of-sync” there are
no open actions
.

Other baselines, with no open actions, show that they are in-sync.

Yet other baselines, show components being out of sync, with the Baseline being out-of-sync, while just below them will be another baseline, again with components out of sync, but the baseline shows as in-sync.

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the out-of-sync status that I can see.

I’ve attached an obfuscated screenshot of the New Baseline Synchronization Dashboard leaving the Open Action, Components, and Sync Status readable. None of these baselines have Open Actions, but about half of them show Out-of-Sync.

The screenshot was taken from my Master Operator account.

{EDITED} - I just opened one of the Baselines that indicates that it has components out of date (ID # 52), but all of it’s components seem to be up to date.

It seems all the Out-of-Sync baselines have the warning signs in Components column. Can you please let me know what is the warning message when you move your mouse over the warning signs?

(imported comment written by Tim.Rice)

I’ll look on Monday when I can get back into the office.

there is one baseline that claims to be out-of-sync but has no warning symbol.

i believe that the warning icons ar indicating that components in the baseline are out of sync, but when I look in the baseline, everything is current.

Hi Tim. Does your baseline contain fixlets from multiple sites?

(imported comment written by Tim.Rice)

Not normally. All the ones in the image were constructed using fixlets from the
Patches for Windows (English)
site.

In response to
Xie_Ran91
, the warning icons indicate a mix of “Some component relevance is out-of-sync” and “Some component actions are out-of-sync”. When I edit the Baseline’s that indicate “relevance is out-of-sync”, I don’t see any of the component fixlets indicating that they are out of sync. As for the “actions are out-of-sync”, there are NO open actions for any of these baselines.

May you export one of those baselines and attach it here, or send it over to my mail baonhan@sg.ibm.com? Thanks.

(imported comment written by vpetrell)

Any updates on this? The dashboard still doesn’t appear to be working.

(imported comment written by Xie_Ran91)

we didn’t receive any reply from Tim. Can you help us export one of those baselines and attach it here, or send it over to Bao’s mail baonhan@sg.ibm.com? Thanks.

(imported comment written by vpetrell)

I just sent them over to Bao now. Thanks!

It would be a nice addition to add the size of the baseline in bytes.

Fantastic! I submitted this RFE quite a while ago and I’m very excited to see that this feature has been added! Thanks for the update…
