I just installed .NET 3.0 on a XP SP3 system. Windows update reports I need .NET 3.0 SP1 but bigfix does not.
I found the relevance for “UPDATE: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP1 Available - Windows XP/2003” (id# 1576802) specifies only XP SP2 (as does a .NET 3.5 fixlet id#390). Is that by design or could it be updated to allow these fixlets to be relevant on xp sp3?
I was looking at the .Net 3.5 fixlet and noticed it isn’t relevant for XP machines with SP3. Should I change the relevance to include machines with SP3?
I’m a little surprised no one from BigFix has chimed in since your initial post. I tested it on one machine today and it was pending a restart. When I get to work tomorrow I report my findings.
Remember that many of us from BigFix check the forums daily and do our best to answer questions or find the right people to answer questions, but we remember that we consider this to be a “discussion forum” and not a “support forum”. If you have a question that needs an urgent or support-oriented response, it is best to contact support and get a case number.
In this particular post, I am guessing that we missed this post because many people were out around Christmas time. I will ask our Fixlet team about this…
When we first published the .NET 3.0 Fixlets there was no Windows XP SP3, hence the exclusion. Generally we rely on Microsoft to publish applicability updates when they release a new service pack or the like, but unfortunately there was no such notification for .NET 3.0. We’ve modified the appropriate Fixlets and will be publishing the new versions shortly. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the heads up!
