Hi Big Fix Forum…
newbie here but learning…
The question I have is…
I have 150 machines, I need/want to check the contents of a >dat file (read as notebpad)
Its the name name in the 150 computers I want to check (all Pcs are different names)
I want to be able to pull them all back and look at each one,
What is the best method to get this done if it is possible?
Thanks in advance!!!
How large is the file? Is there one particular line or string you want from it?
Usually one would create an Analysis Property. The property might be something like
Lines containing "SERVERNAME" of file "c:\temp\test.txt"
The Relevance for the analysis might be
Exists file "C:\temp\test.txt"
Substitute in the file path and the string that marks the line of interest

It is a very small file and like I said it’s just a notepad almost like a text file but it’s very very tiny
Ok, if you’re sure it’s always a small file, an Analysis Property with
Lines of file "c:\temp\test.txt"

Thank you…
So i am fairly new to all this… I was able to create my first fixlet to copy a file to a directory to all of my machines and also remove a file…
Looking for more guidance in creating this from scratch more or less… I have never used the analysis feature of bigfix yet to create…
Unless there is an easier way to pull the file to look at it…

Hi,
I can recommend following some training. See https://www.hcltechsw.com/bigfix/training for available training offers.
How useful they are, depends on what licence you have.
I haven’t been able to join 101 myself.
101 is the biggest one. (BigFix Basics.)
201 Covers the Inventory module
301 Covers Compliance
302 OS deployment
302 RC & Power Mgmt
401 Relevance
For me it’s been the Relevance 401 I’ve had most use for.
There’s also webinars at https://www.hcltechsw.com/about/events?product=BigFix
