I apologize if this has come up before or I’m not seeing it, but is there are way to get back “My Custom Tasks” and “My Custom Fixlets” in the console?
We have a lot of custom tasks, and it saves me a few key strokes if all of the ones I created with my console operator account are in one view.
Not quite… there was a section in the treeview on the left hand side in BES 7.2 called “My Custom Tasks” that contained all of the tasks that I had created with my operator account. It’s nice to quickly pull up a list of all the tasks (or fixlets) that I authored, since those are usually the ones I need quick access to.
Sorry guys, I may just be having a lapse in brain function, but I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for. The “Custom Content” section is there, but it shows custom tasks/fixlets that anyone in our deployment has created. In BES 7.2, “My Custom Tasks” would only show the content that I had created
with my console operator account
, not stuff that other users had created.
I thought that I might be able to make a custom filter to do the same thing… but I didn’t see a “created by” property…
We just upgraded to BES 8.0 and I was thinking the same thing. I seem to have trouble finding where (regardless of site) where My Fixlets, My Tasks and My Baselines are that I authored.
Sounds great. That would make it quicker to get to “My” stuff without constantly drilling down the tree.
I’d also suggest adding “By Author” so we can see fixlets/tasks/baselines/Analyses created by other people in our group.
Granted, you could only see items that are in a site which you can access. That would make it easier to locate fixlets in a site that I know a specific person created.
For instance:
Custom Content
-> All Custom Content
----> Fixlets and Tasks
---------->All
-------------->By Author
---------->Fixlets Only
-------------->By Author
---------->Tasks Only
-------------->By Author
On another note, could we also add an “Author” field to the custom filters? That might be handy as well for searching based on who created it.
Thanks for the feedback; these are interesting ideas that we have discussed, but which would require a change to the platform code. To be clear, by “adding ‘Author’ field to the filters”, you are talking about creating a custom filter that contains Fixlets created by a specific author, correct?
Correct. The author would be name of the BES operator for the fixlets he wrote.
So we’d be able to create a custom filter or even add a column in the fixlet window that shows who authored it. So we might see subscribed fixlets as “BigFix”, and ones I created would be like “phaines” and John Doe might be “JohnDoe”.
Though we still want “My Fixlets”, “My Tasks”, “My Baselines”, “My Analyses”. I don’t want to keep drilling down to “By Author” for my daily stuff.
(Funny note…as I was thinking about “fixlets he wrote” I was thinking it would be funny if Angela Lansbury wrote relevance for a new tv show)
Please do the same for “actions”. I posted elsewhere but it belong here, I think… that feature was just as useful, to monitor actions
I
pushed. I know I can find them by drilling down “By issued by” but that then eats up the entire left pane and makes navigation back to and from actions a royal pain. Thanks !
We also miss the “My Custom <Tasks, Actions, Fixlets, Analyses>” in v8. It is a good bit more cumbersome to find the stuff I authored without the “My” views.
