Here is the scene: I need to apply latest patches for Red Hat 4 on a new installed system. In “Red Hat 4 patches” site are more than 1300 fixlets. After a long depuration I finally reached the number of around 950 fixlets. Knowing that a baseline cannot have more than 100 fixlets, I need to create 10 different baselines.
The thing is, when I set actions for those 10 baselines to act as a policy, they start applying all at the same time, trying to apply every fixlet within them without following any order.
I’ve read a post about using “control files” that should write a file on the client, and it should be read by the next baseline relevance. This solution may be usefull for 3 or 4 baselines, but it isn’t when I have 20 baselines for a single OS. I still have to set patch baselines for Red Hat 5. “Red Hat 5 patches” site has over 2500 fixlets.
I wonder if there is a usefull procedure to put some order on the baseline application.
