MS Office 2010 Installation

(imported topic written by ringelr91)

I have been trying to install MS Office 2010 using a prepackaged installation format. I have run the installation package manually on the local console of my WindowsXP PC’s and the installation runs perfectly. When I run this thru the Software Deployment Wizard and try to install it from there, the SETUP.EXE file executes without error and Office is installed, but the SETUP.EXE file will not exit and the process hangs. Does anyone have a fix or work around that might correct this?

I’m having the exact same issue! I am installing using the setup.exe /adminfile file.msp and can install it manuall on a text machine fine. However when I create a task and deply it via BigFix the task seems to just hang showing running even though it appears the install has completed successfully on the machine. I can open Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook 2010 without issue. Then when the machine is rebooted the task shows up as failed. Anybody find a fix for this?

Note: I’ve configured my .msp file for NO user display/interaction.

Is it related to the SYSTEM account?
