Hey Shlomi,

Remember that our Patches for Windows Fixlet content only covers security bulletins and updates of applications…

For the ActiveX Kill Bits, you might be interested in the Task “Internet Explorer: ActiveX set Compatibility Flag Kill Bit” on the Security Policy Manager site. It looks like the update KB960715 update adds two kill-bits in addition to MS08-070 provides. This Task will allow you to add these kill bits.

The middle two are not security related, but it should be pretty straight-forward to add them to the software distribution wizard if you want to deploy them to some computers.

Let me check on the XML Services…

Hey Shlomi,

So I talked to our Fixlet team about this. In general, our policy as I mentioned is to not do non-security related patches, but we will take requests for Fixlets and publish them at our discretion (basically if we think it will be helpful and it won’t be too hard).

They have agreed to do KB960715 and XML Core Services 6.0 SP1 and we will let you know when they are published. I think they are finishing up a project right now so it probably will be closer to the end of the month before they are released.

The Microsoft Security Advisory (960715) Update Rollup for ActiveX Kill Bits should absolutely be part of the Windows Patches site. Especially considering such updates have been published in the Windows Patch site before - recently in fact;

I’m not quite sure when your marketing folks decided to move this functionality - but based upon our purchase of the product and the fact that such updates were furnished to us with the product we had purchased we have a responable expectation of receiving such updates in the future WITHOUT purchasing additional products to regain this functionality.

Hi ashtons,

Yes. As I mentioned, we do some of the non-security bulletins and we will cover the newest kill-bit update shortly… Note that although we have lots of different patching Fixlets sites (for different OSes, different langauges, etc.) I believe you get a license to all patching sites if you purchase our patch management offering… you should double-check with your salesperson, but we aren’t trying to charge you more for more patching.
