I am a new user of DSS, but have had BigFix for a few years now. I inputted one simple contract that went just fine for Microsoft Office Visio 2007. However, when I go drill down by software title, it shows that I have 79 misreporting computers, and 0 licenses used.
I followed the directions to the letter when setting this thing up, what does misreporting computers mean? How might I approach fixing this?
Check the “License Unit” for the contract in question – it needs to be the default “” or an analysis property that’s returning a number. The default “” is actually the computer count (i.e. number of computers on which the software was found) – that label should probably be more descriptive, huh?
License Unit is essentially the multiplier for “Cost per Unit”. A good example is “Processor count” – the system will tally all the processor counts for all the machines on which the title you selected for the contract was found. If it’s not numeric, then it’s impossible to do a license use tally and compliance calculation, so the system says the machines returning non-numeric information for that analysis property are “misreporting”.
