is there a best practice in migrating BigfixDB’s from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 (SP2, in our case)?

I think it is possible to upgrade in place using the installer, but I haven’t tried it myself…

Is your bigfix app version staying the same but you are just migrating from 2005 to 2008?

If so you should be able to do a backup and then a restore on the 2008 db which will take care of any conversions then reset your ODBC settings from the BES App server.

yes, i am migrating from one SQL 2005 server to another SQL 2008 server.

your advise sounds solid enough, ill try that and report back.

I am curious on how this procedure worked out as I am facing the same situation now in my environment. Moving from SQL 2005 to 2008 R2.

TEM is staying at 8.1 until the new SQL db, then we are going to 8.2.

Please let me know if there are any considerations I should be aware of.
