I am banging my head agaist the wall on this one.

I unlock my Servers.

Create a new Maintenace Window.

Enforce Maintenance Window with Client Locking.

It doesn’t seem to work. The Servers don’t lock and if I lock them they won’t unlock during the Maintenace Window.

What am I doing wrong? Anyone have any detailed instructions on how to create a Maintenance Window?

FYI -

I figured this out. I was doing it wrong.

I unlocked the Servers I wanted in the maintenance Window.

I set a maintenance Window and deployed it.

I waited until the maintenance window deployment was done.

I locked my Servers.

I ran the ‘enforce maintenance windows with client locking’

After that the window opened up and the Servers were patched.

Does this sound like the correct way to do it?

Hey stantiques,

Did you try to enforce client locking during the maintenance window? The agent only will lock when it is outside the maintenance window…

I did some more tests yesterday and its working great now.

For anyone who wants to know:

I unlocked the Servers.

Created a new maintenance window and set the relevance.

Deployed the new maintenance window.

Waited for all the Servers to receive the maintenance window.

Locked the Servers.

Then enforced the maintenance window.

The Servers were unlocked during the maintenance window and received the patches.

The Servers were then locked after the maintenance windows.

Hi

I’m having the same problems with this (although the solution doesn’t work)

When I follow the correct procedure i.e:

Create Maintenannce Window

Deploy Maintenance Window

Enforce Maintenance Window with Client Locking

…the computer picks up the maintenance window correctly and also shows a __LockState of true

but it doesn’t then unlock when the maintenance window opens up.

When I follow stantiques91 final suggestion, again everything applies ok, but the final step of enforcing the maintenance window is not relevant.

Any thoughts please?
