Can anyone advise the privileges required for BigFix server and agents? Can the daemons be run as a user with root authority or do they have to run as root?
Agents definitely need to be run as root/system in order to perform their tasks. Anything less and they don’t have the privileges needed.
Relays and Servers do need to be able to get at some of the files an agent produces so there can be issues with permissions if you do not allow them to run as root/system. There are some components however that can definitely be run as a user on the server to allow the account access into the SQL server or a proxy.
This should be presented in the documentation however.

Thanks for the reply I may have missed but could not find in the documentation what components can be run as a user? In my case im using DB2
On Linux specifically I believe root is your only choice but I too haven’t found concrete details. I’ll see if I can find anything specific
