i need to understand how license units are interpreted in contracts
Things seem to be working perfectly if i use “none” as the unit (which essentially treats the unit as device count)
However if i use anything else (IP address , hostname , dns name) it doesnt seem to apply the license and i get the endpoints on which the relevant software is installed as entitled and misreporting.
Also is it possible to bind a license to a specific property value (for example : 10 licence for software X bound to ip subnet 192.168.1.0/24)
The license unit is a computer property which specifies the number of licenses to be consumed by each computer. This can be used to do things like per-CPU licensing. It can also support more complicated situations such as IBM Processor Value Units, or declare licenses to be “free” for certain computers if you craft a custom analysis property which represents the license count you wish to apply for that computer.
You must select a computer property which contains numeric values in order to use this feature correctly. It is not a mechanism for counting unique values such as users or IP addresses.
