Internationalization of Updates for Windows Apps, French Impact

(imported topic written by JackCoates91)

IBM is pleased to announce an upcoming update to the Tivoli Endpoint Manager Updates for Windows Applications content stream. All of the fixlets in this content stream will be updated on Tuesday March 29th, 2011 in order to provide internationalization support for French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese Simplified, and Japanese. This change is being pre-announced because it will affect users of the currently separate fixlets for applications in French. These fixlets will be disabled on Friday, April 29th, 2011 in favor of the more complete international Fixlets.

These new international Fixlets replace the currently English only Updates for Windows Applications Fixlets. All language support is consolidated into one Fixlet per product to increase performance and usability. Because French updates were supported by separate Fixlets in the past, there will be an overlap period for French users of one month. French users will see both international versions and French versions of relevant Fixlets in the console from

Tuesday March 29th, 2011

until the French Fixlets are retired on

Friday, April 29th, 2011

.

Actions to Take:

Patching customers using French language Updates for Windows Applications fixlets in baselines will need to recreate those baselines using the International equivalents.

Hi,

The French-specific Updates for Windows Applications Fixlet Messages have now been retired and will no longer appear in content. French Updates for Windows Applications are now supported using the same internationalized Fixlets as all other languages.

Thanks,

Jack
