Install Agent from Asset Discovery List

(imported topic written by JesseR91)

Is there a way to install the BES Client to the servers listed in the Unmanaged Asset tab? Or will I have to manually compile a list of the IP addresses into a text document and use clientdeploy utility? It would be cool if there was a way that you could right click on a system to deploy the client to it. Maybe this exists and I just don’t know the proper steps.

It exists in BES 7.0! You will have the ability to right-click install.

Is BES 7.0 available yet? If not, when is that coming out?

Sorry but we cannot discuss release dates on the forum.

oh, no problem. However, I just ran the Asset Discovery and it completed the nmap scan fine, but I have no Unmanaged Asset tab in the console. How do I get it to show up? It used to be there and I removed all the items in the list because they were old and the tab disappeared after that.

nevermind, I had to close and re-open the console. I guess thats by design?

actually, you don’t have to close and reopen the console, but you do have to wait for a few things to happen before it will show up. I suspect you just hit the timing right such that reopening your console appeared to do the trick. Here is what has to happen:

  1. nmap has to run on the endpoint

  2. endpoint has to upload the files to the server

  3. nmap import service running on the server has to notice the upload, parse the results, and input into the DB. By default the nmap service will check every 5 minutes for new uploads.

  4. console has to refresh

Depending on your upload rate through the relay chain, the timing of the nmap import loop, and your console refresh interval, you can typically expect anywhere between 5-30 minutes before you’ll see the results of a completed scan.
