I’m having an issue with a Windows XP machine that won’t start the client. Sometimes it says it doesn’t have permission, which is false. I’m an admin of the box. Other times it says it couldn’t start in a timely fashion. I’ve tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but it has the same results.
Both. If you try to upgrade to 9.0.787.0 from an older version the service won’t start. If you try to install 9.0.787.0 from scratch the service won’t start. I installed an older version 7.2.5.22 and the client starts right up.
This is the error message when the 9.0.787.0 client gets installed.
Product: IBM Endpoint Manager Client – Error 1920. Service BES Client (BESClient) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
IEM 9.0 doesn’t support Windows XP SP2. You’d need to install an older version of the agent in order to be supported and for the installation to work (which is what you found when you tried to install 7.2.x).
