I need to generate a report for all Windows 7 installs BEFORE 03/31/11

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

I apologize for what is probably a simple question.

I can not figure out how to do a less than operator in BigFix Web reporting. I have the computers that I’m concerned about narrowed down based on the Active Directory OU, and by the version of Windows (6.1.7600).

How can I perform a less than or equal to for the date 03/31/2011 against the “OS Installation Date” field?

In my limited experience, that seems the best way to figure out how many Windows 7 installs there have been. If there is a better way, I’m all ears (or eyes as it may be).

Thanks!

Jared

Hi Jared,

Unfortunately, I don’t think that web reports recognizes the type of the data fields and it treats them all as strings… So you can’t do a < operator on the time string (except for “Last Report Time”, which is a special property). This is already in as a feature request that web reports can figure out the type of a field and sort/filter it appropriately.

Kludgy workaround: create a property (in the Console) that tests OS Installation Date vs a specific date. Then use that property in Web Reports.

This, of course, does not work well if you need to report on many different dates.

Ben and Noah,

Thank you for your input. I can now stop banging my head against my desk thinking “there has to be a way!”
