How to upgrade Windows Installation Folders on a migrated server

(imported topic written by Doood)

So… I have a server that was built as a server migration (moving dns alias, copying sql databases, etc)… Hence, the Installation folders were copied from the original server. The server works perfectly, and I’ve been upgrading from 9.0.787 to 9.0.835… My issue is: The Task “Updated Windows Installation Folders - IBM Endpoint Manager version 9.0.835.0 Now Available!” fails.

First issue was that it was never relevant because of:

version of file (value “InstallFolder” of key “HKLM\SOFTWARE\BigFix\BES Installation Generator” of registry as string & “BESClientDeploy\BESClientDeploy.exe”) < “9.0.835.0”

… it had no way to see the current version of the install folders… so… I created that key and pointed it to the appropriate dir for the relevance to find the exe and get the version for that file… This made it appear relevant.

However, when I action it, it fails to upgrade anything. Looking at C:\besinstallationgenerator.log, it appears it’s looking for some product code in the registry that doesn’t exits because the installation generator was never actually run on this server.

How can I upgrade my install folders?
