How to update a file in a fixlet

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

We built a software install package with the Windows Software Distribution Wizard. The msi package had spaces in the name when it was compressed. The fixlet created by the wizard refelected those spaces.

Now we want to update the file / fixlet - to update the software and remove the spaces from the name. We manually changed the fixlet to remove the space placeholders. How do we update the file in the cache and then have it propogate to the relays?

If the url in the download Fixlet is accessible, then the relays will automatically cache the file…

You can modify the file in the “Uploads” folder on the BigFix Server manually if you want…

So if we just modify the file, everything else will fall into place? We don’t need to regenerate the sha1 hash or update the fixlet? The next time we deploy, the server and relays will see the file as different and re-cache?

You will want to re-upload the file to the server if the hash changed. Easiset way is to just use the SWD wizard again and then copy the generated download commands into your existing fixlet.
