How to read client report files generated with Carbon Copy

Hi all,

I enabled Carbon Copy feature on our BigFix Server for troubleshooting purposes.

It works fine and stores report files in folder specified by registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\BigFix\Enterprise Server\PostResults”.

Client report encryption is not enabled, so I was expecting to be able to read these files with a simple notepad.

But it appears that the content is not readable with notepad.

Is there a tool to parse these files ?

if the reports came from a Relay they are probably compressed and you should be able to decompress them with the bfarchive tool. Is there a specific thing you’re looking for to troubleshoot?

Hi Andrea,

The purpose was to understand from which machines some reports were coming.

I will try the bfarchive tool to extract the report.
