How to modify the clientMSI from BES Installers (9.5.4.38 build) to use the 9.2.9 windows agent

WE are trying to use the existing client msi that is in the bes installers folder from the BigFix 9.5.4.38 install to use a different agent package as we are tying to install the 9.2.9.windows agent which supports windows 2003. Can someone advise?

Do you need to use an MSI?

You can find exes for previous releases here: http://support.bigfix.com/bes/release/

Just put the actionsite file next to the EXE prior to install and it’ll install just fine.

Yes the customer wants to use the .msi package as they are using SCCM and or GPO to install with as they are highly distributed Internationally. I have them testing from the site you reference the install of the agent manually to validate. However, the older versions of the clientmsi is not available.

The MSI is indeed available on older releases. It is placed when you put down the Installation Generator (Server/Console/Client installs including the MSI). or in the Linux installs it is also placed by the server installer.

The only thing new in recent builds is the ability to download the MSI directly.

Alan, do you mean that you have to run the installer to completion to get the other installers?

No, just installing the Installation Generator will place on the file system all the sub-installers including the MSI
