How to install IEM9.2 Relay

Hello,

I’m trying to do a proof of concept regarding IEM and Mobile Device Management.
I’ve downloaded a triel of IEM and got it running in a VM.

I’ve activated some analyses and installed a BESClient on another VM I’ve got. Please notice that these two Virtual machines are on a bridged network. I can now see on my IEM Console two computers, my IEM Server itself and another machine.

Now I got to the part of Mobile Device Management and was ready to do the Setup and Configuration Wizard, however the first step on deploying the Enrollment and Apple iOS Management Extender, requires a IEM Manager Relay. So I got to the BigFix Management tab and selected install a IEM Relay task.

Problem is, I have 0 aplicable targets to install a IEM Relay even with two machines on my environment.

Can someone point out what I’m doing wrong or perhaps what I should be doing?
The documentation is a little unclear on this one.

Thanks in advance.

What OS is your root BES server and the one client? The BESRelay service is only supported on the documented operating systems. This would be many versions of Windows, two Linux distros (RHEL 5/6 & SuSE 11) and AIX 6+. I suspect the reason you’re not seeing any applicable endpoints is because the OS of the client VM isn’t supported.

Point of clarification, those are the BESRelay OS requirements for IEM 9.1.x.

I would encourage you to review the 9.2 system requirements at http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=1015&uid=swg21652841

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
All my virtual machines are windows server 2008 R2 64 bits. From what I’ve read this shouldn’t be a issue from the IEM9.1 onward.
Both have 4GB of ram and 4 CPUs.

@bjhs, your original post indicates that you’re using the trial version for your PoC, but there’s relevance in the BESRelay installation fixlets that can cause the condition you’ve raised.

In fixlet ID 1915 the BESRelay installer for Windows for version 9.1.1229.0 in relevance statement #5, “evaluation of client license = false”. If you run “evaluation of client license” from the QNA tool on the endpoint you’re wanting to target I’d imagine that you’ll get “true” as the result.

I suspect that if you’re going to proceed further in your PoC, you’ll need to speak with an IBM sales rep to get an alternative license to be able to deploy BESRelays in your PoC environment.

Well… That explains it. Thank you very much.
